TBWA and Tourism New Zealand promote Northland region with Melbourne art mural
Tourism New Zealand has launched on outdoor-focused campaign for its Northland region, featuring an art mural of the oldest Kauri tree in New Zealand.
Painted by New Zealand artist Monique Barnett, the street art of the Tane Mahuta – Lord of the Forest – will sit on the corner of La Trobe and Swanston streets in Melbourne.
Created by TBWA, the campaign runs with the tagline ‘Every day’s a different journey in Northland’, and aims to showcase the lesser known destinations New Zealand has on offer.
Tony Saunders, general manager – Australia of Tourism New Zealand, said in a release: “From ancient islands to golden beaches, lush forests to seaside vineyards, there truly is a new experience around every corner waiting to be discovered.”
As part of the tourism push, Air New Zealand launched its new safety video at the end of last year, also celebrating the Northland region’s destinations.
Kathryn Robertson, regional general manager Australia for Air New Zealand said Northland was a good place for Australians to relax.
“With multiple daily flights and seamless international connections via Auckland, Australian visitors can easily access this beautiful region or in fact any of the 21 regions we connect to domestically,” Robertson added.
“Our latest safety video also takes viewers through the region with an all-star cast highlighting the tourism jewel that is Northland.”
The campaign will run in conjunction with Air New Zealand, Flight Centre and Northland NZ over the next eight weeks, across Facebook and other outdoor platforms, including trams, stations, street furniture and billboards, to display different Northland destinations, including the Bay of Islands.
