Technical glitch doesn’t spoil Kyle & Jackie O’s debut Melbourne show

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson have officially launched their breakfast show in the Melbourne market.

Debuting on Monday morning, the powerhouse radio duo’s first program outside of Sydney saw on-air interviews with Jason Derulo, Michael Bublé, Rob Schneider and PM Anthony Albanese and the prize money of their fan-favourite segment, THE NOISE, increased to $200,000.

The show however did hit a speed bump just after 9am when three traffic reports were delivered inside a 15-minute window, suggesting a technical error was at play.

After being contacted by Mumbrella, ARN confirmed that the Kyle & Jackie O Show did experience “one minor technical glitch” at that time.

Mumbrella publisher, Adam Lang, who also previously worked as Macquarie Media CEO and former national director of operations and general manager of 2DayFM and Triple M, was optimistic about the show’s success in Melbourne.

“It will work in Melbourne and is capable of getting to #1 over 12 months,” Lang said.

“The advertising, promotion, and competition will lead to a large cumulative audience sampling the show and some of them will stay. This will disrupt the competition for the next three surveys and probably leave 3AW relatively stronger.”

Speaking to Mumbrella shortly after Kyle & Jackie O’s historic 10-year deal late last year – which will see the duo’s contract increase by $2-$3 million in January 2025 – ARN CEO and managing director Ciaran Davis said the Melbourne move is of great benefit to advertisers and brands.

“It provides new opportunities, and those brands that have worked closely with Kyle and Jackie, and the campaigns [that] have delivered for them over the last 10 years, now have a new market to be able to launch in and work in as well, and we’re excited about that opportunity,” Davis said.
