TEG Digital names Chris Johnston as GM

He joins from Slingshot Media Ventures, where he was head of digital and data, and replaces Karen Chapple, who is leaving the business on 9 July after six years with the company.

“Chris is an impressive operator who has both the drive and experience required to take this core area of TEG’s business to new heights, and more importantly, deliver outstanding results for our clients,” said CEO Geoff Jones.

Prior to his stint at Slingshot, Johnston was head of digital and direct for Woolworths at Carat, and GM at McCann Erickson. His new role at TEG will see him join the executive team and be based at the company’s Sydney headquarters.

“Having worked closely with TEG in recent years, I’ve witnessed the incredible business that Geoff and his team have been able to create,” Johnston said of his appointment.

“With unrivalled data, great tech and incredible people, TEG is in an enviable position to lead the next evolution of data driven marketing. I’m excited to join the team to help make that happen and realise the endless opportunities that lie ahead.”

Jones also thanked Chapple for her contributions.

“Karen has done a wonderful job during her six years with the organisation and leaves an enviable legacy at TEG. I wish her every success in the future,” he said.

Chapple said of her departure: “I would like to thank Geoff and the TEG team for the fantastic journey I’ve been on over the past six years. It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with a business at the forefront of innovation and I’m excited to watch TEG continue to grow and dominate well into the future.”

The news comes at the same time as Dominic White joins TEG as head of communications and corporate affairs.
