Telegraph launches the Truck of Triumph to capitalise on Aussie Ashes win

Sydney’s Daily and Sunday Telegraph newsapers are launching a publicity stunt tomorrow morning pledging to “wipe the Poms from the history books” with the Truck of Triumph as Australia looks to complete a whitewash in the current Ashes test series.

A truck with a giant picture of the England cricket team on it will be touring tourist hotspots in Sydney offering people the chance to paint over the picture with white paint – as the final test match gets underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Acting editor Ben English said in a statement: “England is creating an Ashes debacle this summer it would rather forget. We want to make sure we never will.

“We would be loathe to gloat, but our truck of triumph will give our Aussie supporters in Sydney and beyond a unique opportunity to join in the England whitewash. We had the Invincibles in the 1940s. Now England has the Invisibles.”

The tour starts at 7am led by senior reporter Andrew Carswell and will visit several tourist hotspots including Bondi, Manly and the SCG.
