Telstra signs as first principal sponsor of Effie Awards
Telstra has signed on as the first principal sponsor of the Effie Advertising Effectiveness Awards for the next three years.
The Australian marketing industry’s recognition of the most effective advertising is in its second year and will now be will be presented by The Communications Council and the Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) in association with Telstra.
The awards were initially launched by the Advertising Federation of Australia (AFA) and the AANA. The AFA is now part of the newly formed Communications Council.
Amanda Johnston-Pell, executive director brand and marketing communications, said: “Now more than ever companies like Telstra are seeking new ways to effectively market to customers.
“We also need to make sure that we have tangible proof that the money we spend on marketing is money well spent – the Effies promote that principle, so for us it is a very good business fit.”
Category sponsors this year are Millward Brown, Bacardi, Commonwealth Bank, Adstream, Advertising Standards Bureau, B&T, OzTam, Eye, Healthcare Communications Council, Multicultural Connexions, Open Up To Mail, Phone Names, The Newspaper Works, Radio Network and Trapdoor Productions.
Last year, the top prize at the inaugural Australian Effie Awards was won by a campaign produced by Clemenger BBDO Sydney for the RTA. In total there were 16 gold Effies awarded.
The Effies, founded in 1968, now runs in 39 countries around the world.
