Telstra’s Mark Buckman expands role
Telstra chief marketer Mark Buckman has expanded his responsibilities adding the roles of digital media and IPTV to his purview.
He replaces JB Rousselot who stood down as Telstra’s executive director of media last week, ending a 10 year-stint at the company.
“I’m very excited about the role. The whole media space is one of Telstra’s key growth strategies for the future and I think there are a lot of synergies between the marketing porfolio as well as the digital media and IPTV platforms”, Buckman told Mumbrella this morning.
The move is believed to significant as Telstra seeks to expand its digital business. The company has recently made a number of digital investments, including spending $35 million last year on the video streaming start-up Ooyala.
“There’s no doubt this is a growth strategy for our business, especially as the world moves to a any screen, any where, anytime environment where distribution will mean we have a very good advantage in,” he said.

Surely this announcement makes Mr Buckman’s omission from today’s Media section’s list of top 50 most influential in media even more odd.
