Ten axes The Living Room, but promises its hosts will return to the network in 2020

Despite confirming the program at its 2020 upfronts in October, Ten has announced that The Living Room will not return next year.

Instead, the four hosts, Amanda Keller, Chris Brown, Barry Du Bois and Miguel Maestre, will be taking part in a different, unconfirmed, format on the network.

A Network Ten spokesperson told Mumbrella: “The Living Room will not return in 2020. We are thrilled that the brilliant team of Amanda, Barry, Miguel and Chris will be back at 7.30 on Friday nights next year, watch this space for more information.”

The lifestyle program launched in 2012 as a challenger to Seven’s tentpole program, Better Homes and Gardens, with 30 episodes going to air. Last year, The Living Room ran for 43 episodes.

Broadcast at 7:30pm on Friday nights, The Living Room is often Ten’s highest-rated program in total people for the evening.

Due to the commitments of its hosts this year, The Living Room began its run later in the year, with the first episode going to air on 29 March to 411,000 metro viewers.

In February this year, Ten brought back Dancing With The Stars, with Keller hosting alongside Grant Denyer. The first season of the reality program on Ten also saw Maestre take part as a competitor.

Brown is the host of Ten’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, alongside Julia Morris. I’m A Celebrity will return next year on January 5, and once again, Maestre will appear as a contestant.

The last episode of The Living Room is set to air on December 20.
