Ten axes The Living Room, but promises its hosts will return to the network in 2020
Despite confirming the program at its 2020 upfronts in October, Ten has announced that The Living Room will not return next year.
Instead, the four hosts, Amanda Keller, Chris Brown, Barry Du Bois and Miguel Maestre, will be taking part in a different, unconfirmed, format on the network.
A Network Ten spokesperson told Mumbrella: “The Living Room will not return in 2020. We are thrilled that the brilliant team of Amanda, Barry, Miguel and Chris will be back at 7.30 on Friday nights next year, watch this space for more information.”
The lifestyle program launched in 2012 as a challenger to Seven’s tentpole program, Better Homes and Gardens, with 30 episodes going to air. Last year, The Living Room ran for 43 episodes.
Broadcast at 7:30pm on Friday nights, The Living Room is often Ten’s highest-rated program in total people for the evening.
Due to the commitments of its hosts this year, The Living Room began its run later in the year, with the first episode going to air on 29 March to 411,000 metro viewers.
In February this year, Ten brought back Dancing With The Stars, with Keller hosting alongside Grant Denyer. The first season of the reality program on Ten also saw Maestre take part as a competitor.
Brown is the host of Ten’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, alongside Julia Morris. I’m A Celebrity will return next year on January 5, and once again, Maestre will appear as a contestant.
The last episode of The Living Room is set to air on December 20.
I have so enjoyed “The Living Room” because it listened, helped, displayed, and interacted in the lives of its viewers. And in that, it showed compassion, happiness, and positivity in what seemed undoable for those in the real life situations. May I say thank you so very much for sharing a wonderful show with us. With me. It has given me so much. I look forward to seeing the crew again. A little gubious but loving the hosts anyhow.

One of the few programs worth watching. Good variety, a bit of a laugh. But, again, gets too many ads. Will be interesting to see what comes next year. I will miss this show.

So sad to see the end of this thoroughly enjoyable show, The Living Room. Whatever comes next will hopefully measure up…
Forget the hour and a half news…way too long and will never be enough real news to fill the 90 minutes.

So sorry to see Living Room not returning in 2020. Only lively spot on Friday nite, come on channel 10, tv is not all about reality shows or sport. Let’s have some variety. Hope it returns in same format. Love the Living Room anyway. ???

Channel 10 you have lost the plot!! The Living Room is one of my favourite shows…I have been to the live recording a few times & watch it every Friday night. And Celebrity Name Game is a breath of fresh air in what is otherwise a boring, doom & gloom news filled timeslot. I hope you have got something awesome lined up for Amanda, Barry, Chris & Miguel or you’re going to lose a lot of viewers!!

Typical, pandering to the concrete jungle (city).
They whonge and get what what.
Regional Victoria is fed up to the teeth with all of the cri.e happeni g and being reported as ‘news’.
We enjoy watching Grant Denyer and his latest game show.
Stop pandering to the city folk. Time regional Victoria was considered.
No wonder you are losing viewers.
Too much News!!!
Now we find out it has been MOVED to 10Bold

What a stupid move, 90 minutes of news that will mean searching for something to broadcast, include the usual boring catch up on the outdated royal family, add the old guy dressed like a teenager doing photos and weather , extend it to flow into another hour of news with The Project, OMG , I’m off , channel seven, here I come

We are inundated with news ALL day…on all the channels…online…on the radio all day…bring back celebrity name game…and while you are at it…bring back Pointless and Family Fued aswell…maybe rotate them…they are fun and light hearted…too much news can not be good…and while you are at it…put Frasier, Becker, King of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond back on Peach after James Cordon…laughter is the key to happiness after all…

Please bring back Celebrity Name Game or Pointless or Family Feud back to TEN 10 at 6.00pm. I enjoyed watching these shows at 6.00pm as I have my dinner at that time. I watched Ten News at 5.00pm so I could see these shows at 6.00pm. Huge mistake, huge!

We just watched the final episode of the Living Room with my young family & thought it strange that they never said see you in the new year. This end of year episode was so different to previous ones. I just had to investigate and now believe The Living Room will not return in 2020. It is absolutely the one and only show that unites us as a family. We look forward to Friday nights watching Barry’s DIY, Miguel’s cooking, Chris Brown’s adventures and tips on animals and Amanda keeping everyone together in her absolutely humorous way. The chemistry between the team is amazing and makes us laugh ( ages 3 years to 42 years) which is something very special. Please don’t leave!!!

Stumbled across The Living Room as a refugee from the awful reality shows of US TV. What a treat. A great group of capable people in a variety of fields with great camaraderie, and a fab anchor.
‘Tis better to have seen The Living Room and lost it, than never to have seen it at all. Thanks, all.
