Ten boss Blackley gets contract extended

Network Ten’s board has moved to end  speculation over the future of CEO Grant Blackley under new shareholder James Packer and announced an extension to his contract.

In an announcement this afternoon, Ten said Blackley’s contract has been extended to August 31, 2013.

Executive chairman Nick Falloon, who is due to step down shortly, said: “The Board believes Grant is an outstanding television executive and we are delighted that he will continue to lead the Television business.”

Incoming director Lachlan Murdoch, who will join the board next month, said: “This is a positive announcement for the Company and will provide continuity and stability, especially with the recent announcement that Nick Falloon will leave the company in December.”

Speculation has swirled around Ten’s management since Packer’s sudden investment in the network which saw him and Murdoch join the board and oust Falloon.
