Network Ten CEO and managing director Hamish McLennan has been confirmed for the Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA) Screen Forever conference. He will have a one-on-one conversation with Russel Howcroft, the executive general manager for Ten and panelist on the Gruen series.

The announcement:

Hamish McLennan, the CEO and Managing Director of Ten Network Holdings, will be the guest in a special one-on-one conversation with his Ten colleague, and The Gruen Transfer panellist, Russel Howcroft at the Screen Forever Conference 2013.

“The industry’s fortunes are inextricably linked to those platforms in Australia like Ten Network that deliver great Australian content. Hamish has a strong engagement with the production sector; he knows the value of content to advertisers and is forward thinking about how to leverage it. Ten Network is an important collaborator with SPAA and we are delighted to have him as a guest speaker at Screen Forever,” said Matthew Deaner, Executive Director, SPAA.

Hamish McLennan joined the free-to-air network in March this year from News Corporation where he was Executive Vice President, Office of the Chairman, as well as the Chairman of Australian media company REA Group Limited (of which he remains Non-Executive Chairman). Prior to that he was the Global Chairman and CEO of Young & Rubicam, the first non-American and youngest person to run the company since it was founded in 1925.

Australia’s youngest free-to-air television network, at almost 50 years old, Ten Network today includes the channels TEN, ELEVEN, ONE and a new digital content platform, tenplay. Its broad genre range includes shows such as Offspring, Puberty Blues, MasterChef Australia, Wonderland, The Biggest Loser, Neighbours, The Project and Bondi Vet. The line-up in 2014 features two global sporting events – XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi and XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow – and the return of So You Think You Can Dance, among others.

Russel Howcroft joined Ten Network in January 2013 as Executive General Manager with responsibility for its operations in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
