Ten drops The Renovators from afternoon schedule and brings back Judge Judy
Ten is to axe its afternoon repeats of The Renovators in a shakeup to its daytime lineup following the end of Oprah.
The final episode of Oprah airs tomorrow, with the new lineup from Monday.
Chat show Dr Phil – hosted by former Oprah regular Phil McGraw – will remain in the noon slot, with Oprah replaced at 1pm by health advice show The Doctors, which is itself a spin-off from Dr Phil.
Ready Steady Cook remains in the 2pm slot, with Judge Judy returning to the schedule at 3pm.
The Renovators, which had been running in the 3.30pm slot, has now been dropped from the schedule. The daily reality show – following a similar format to Masterchef, but with home renovation rather than cooking at the heart of the programme – has failed to deliver the primetime numbers that Ten had been hoping for. Thursday’s afternoon repeat of The Renovators rated 213,000, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam.
The rest of the schedule sees Huey’s Kitchen move from 3pm to 4pm and The Bold And the Beautiful remaining at 4.30pm.
As TV Tonight reported last month, the removal of Judge Judy to make way for The Renovators repeat, led to a viewer backlash.
I guess Judge Judy tells it like it nis and the viewers prefer that!!

Nothing beats a back to back session of Ready Steady Cook and Judge Judy. Nothing.

I’m struggling to get into the show in the evening (despite being a fan of renovating myself) so I’m not surprised they’ve dropped it from the afternoons.

When you see a title like The Renovators and reference to home renovations, you expect the see home renovation – NOT crappy ‘flower decoration’ challenges ( they might as well be as they have nothing to do with home Renovation). I feel sorry for the poor participants – it isn’t their fault the program hasn’t worked.
