Ten’s multimedia drama Secrets and Lies launches to 403,000 metro viewers
Ten’s release of the much anticipated multi-platform murder mystery Secrets and Lies launched to 403,000 metro viewers and finished fourth in its timeslot last night, against strong competition from Seven and Nine.
Secrets and Lies, a format acquired by Channel Five in the UK and ABC Studios in the US, started at 8:30pm after months of heavy promotion from Ten, but struggled to win a big audience as My Kitchen Rules held 1.695m viewers from 7.30pm to 9pm on Seven and The Block had 1.197m between 7.40pm to 9pm on Nine, its biggest audience yet for a Monday night.
The Ten murder mystery is using multimedia platforms to provide viewers with extra clues to help them work out who killed a young boy, and last night focussed on the story of his neighbour who found his body.
Nine’s recently launched drama series Love Child had 1.166m metro viewers from 9pm, as Seven’s US import Revenge averaged 855,000 at the same time.
I watched secret and lies, I really liked it. I will keep watching it for sure.
Gave S&L 20min, changed over to Hawking on SBS.
Poor Ten, they really can’t take a a trick on the ratings/programming front. (with the exception of Big Bash cricket, where they really didn’t have much competition)
Why don’t Ten diversify? Channel 7 = tripe. Channel 9 = tripe. Currently Ten = even more tripe. Why don’t they change, take a gamble, broadcast some quality?
I will diversify: Dear Channel Ten. Your show ‘Wake Up’ (which I have never watched) is filmed in my ‘neck of the woods’. Occasionally this causes congestion in what has always been the best place to live in the world. Please go and film in studios and leave the beach for the people. Thank you.
I got through about half of Secrets and Lies before I realised I’d seen this show before – as “Broadchurch” on the ABC – same story. Apart from that it was too slow moving and dull. Won’t be back Channel 10.
I think it is officially called The Oscars now not academy awards
Secrets & Lies was advertised as if it were the Second Coming. The story itself was OK, but compared to Broadchurch it was an embarrassment. Wafer thin plot and hardly any characterization. Boring.
Having watched 5 episodes of Secrets and Lies I feel obliged to stick with it but is it ever a chore!
