Ten names The Project’s replacement news show
Paramount’s Network Ten has announced a new “premium, in-depth” news program, 10 News+, as a replacement for the soon-to-be-shut down show The Project.
10 News+ will follow Network Ten’s 5pm local news bulletins nationally, going live at 6pm in a move that sets up a head-to-head clash with Seven and Nine’s nightly news bulletins. Ten says it offer audiences “extended context and deeper reporting” on the day’s biggest stories.
According to a media release, it aims to redefine evening news, by providing comprehensive analysis, trusted reporting, and long-form investigative journalism. It will be integrated across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms, led by executive producer Daniel Sutton.

(L-R): Samantha Butler, Brianna Parkins, Angela Bishop, Hugh Riminton, Amelia Brace, Denham Hitchcock, Ursula Heger, Ashleigh Raper, Bill Hogan, and Carrie-Anne Greenbank
Investigative journalist Denham Hitchcock and Walkley Award-winning journalist Amelia Brace will anchor the program Sunday-Thursday. National affairs editor Hugh Riminton and news anchor Ursula Heger will host on Fridays.
They will be joined by a line-up of reporters including Ashleigh Raper, Bill Hogan, Brianna Parkins, Samantha Butler, Carrie-Anne Greenbank, Angela Bishop, and Claudia Vrdoljak.
Sutton, who has a 19-year tenure at Network Ten, said: “I’m incredibly proud of the exceptional team of journalists we’ve brought together. They are driven truth-seekers and compelling storytellers, united by a commitment to go beyond the headlines. Above all, we’ll tell stories with heart, compassion, and integrity.”
The program has been created in response to Australia’s evolving media landscape, according to Network Ten. The release said that at a time when “misinformation is rife”, 10 News+ will be steadfast in its commitment to truth and transparency, delivering journalism with “integrity, clarity, and purpose”.
Paramount Australia’s VP of news, Martin White, said the team is “going to do what we do best — put the truth first, our audience first, and tell important stories well”.
He said: “What we’re doing with 10 NEWS+ is completely different to anything else in the market. We’re giving you more — breaking exclusive stories and offering our own unique take on the biggest issues impacting Australians, across multiple platforms including 10, 10 Play and YouTube.
“And at the heart of everything we do is delivering news and current affairs that matter to you. No filler. No opinion. Just the facts.”
It comes the same week that Network Ten confirmed its panel-style news program The Project would shut down later this month. The Project ran for 16 years with more than 4,500 episodes.
10 News+ will premiere on Monday, June 30 at 6pm.
