Ten programming boss: I wish we’d never made the Spearman Experiment
The boss of Ten’s programming has admitted that its copycat of Nine’s 20 To 01, The Spearman Experiment, was a mistake.
When the list show – hosted by Magda Szubanski – went to air in September- it was widely derided by viewers.
In an interview with the Sunday Telegraph, Ten’s programming boss David Mott said: “We should never have done (Spearman) – we made a mistake. Magda is terrific talent and we would work with her again tomorrow. But I wished we hadn’t done it.”
agreed. it was pretty crap.

Wow, it seems honesty is catching. Contrition is the new black. The Boonie doll was a mistake and Spearman was too!

I’m willing to put my hand up and say that I didn’t mind it. Much better than Channel Nine’s geriatric 20 to 1.

I liked it. I thought it was better than 20 to 1.

Both use recycled footage used to cross promote station talent. They are kind of like a TV garage sale.
I hope their advertisers found some bargains.

20 to 1 is crap. Is anyone really watching that rubbish? Any copy was always only going to be crap too.

He’s not the only one.

What a crock of steaming elephant poo that was – but sadly, as with Aus. radio, television here is lacking in the “vision” dept – too much reliance on what can rip off from someone else or O/S!?

If anyone needs to roll the dice on a new television series concept stolen from an opposition channel that was rubbish in the first place just let me know.
I know an astute 9 year old who could do a better forecast than the “Mottley Crew”.

I hate 20-1 (and most of the crap that’s on TV really) but the Spearman episode on cashed up bogans was hysterical.

ahh – a ripped off concept! I thought it was a competition between the two networks as to who could create the cheapest TV show
