Ten talks big for 2011

Ten launched its 2011 TV season to the Sydney market with an all singing, all dancing firework-filled spectacular on Wednesday night.

As well as announcing that Sandra Sully is to be the Sydney face of its new local 6.30pm news, the network gave priority to talking up three of its forthcoming formats – The Renovators, Class Of… and Don’t Stop Believing.

Mumbrella talks to Ten boss Grant Blackley and programming chief David Mott:

As Mumbrella has previously reported, The Renovators has a similar aspirational, competitive format to Masterchef but features people taking part in competitive home improvement tasks, before culminating in a live auction. Don’t Stop Believing has been described as a reality version of Glee.

But among the biggest positive reactions of the night was to the sizzle reel for Class Of… A European format, it takes a failing classroom and brings in a set of expert educators to help the children turn their academic lives around.
