Ten’s I’m A Celebrity pulls 791,000 viewers to win on a quiet Thursday night

I'm a Celebrity Ten’s reality show I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! drew 791,000 metropolitan viewers on what was a lacklustre Thursday night for television audiences.

The result meant that Celebrity was the most watched non-news program on a night when news dominated the top of the ratings ladder.

Over on the ABC, the debut of Australian drama, Jack Irish, starring Guy Pearce, drew 711,000 viewers to be the ninth most watched show of the night.

In the 7:30pm slot, Inside Story’s piece on Hillsong founders Brian and Bobbie Houston drew 499,000 followed by RTA on 517,000 viewers but was beaten by I’m A Celebrity and also Seven’s Home and Away which had 753,000 viewers.

According to OzTAM preliminary numbers, a repeat of The Big Bang Theory at 8:00pm drew 419,000.

In the news race, Seven news won both the 6:00pm and 6:30pm time slots with 955,000 and 916,000 viewers, compared with Nine, which sat on 897,000 and 844,000, respectively.

In main channel audience, Seven won the night with 17.9%, Nine had 17%, Ten 16.4%, and the ABC 13.8%.
