Ten’s New Girl, Modern Family and The Biggest Loser win key demos in Sunday ratings

Ten dominated the key advertising demographics of 16-39 and 18-49 in the Sunday night ratings, with New Girl, Modern Family and The Biggest Loser occupying the top three spots in both demos.

Ten’s New Girl was the most popular show in the 16-39 demo, but lost the 8pm time slot for total individuals to The Force – Behind the line on Seven.

Modern Family was the most watched non-news show of the night, with 1.055m, according to preliminary reports from OzTam.

It beat Border Security on Seven in the 7.30pm time slot, which rated with 933,000, and The Time Traveller’s Guide on ABC1, which pulled in 861,000.

The second highest rating non-news show was The Biggest Loser at 6.30pm, which also eclipsed 1m. It beat a new episode of Easter with the Australian Women’s Weekly on Nine, which rated with 784,000, and Compass on ABC1, which rated with 307,000.

A Nine show topped the ratings for the first time in a while. Nine News won the night overall, pulling in 1.534m, followed by Seven News and Sunday Night, both on Seven.

Last night was the first of a fortnight official non-ratings period to cover the easter break.
