Ten’s Taskmaster airs to 360k metro viewers; MAFS keeps entertainment crown

Ten’s local adaption of the UK format Taskmaster launched to 360,000 metro viewers last night. Meanwhile, Nine’s Married at First Sight (MAFS) retained the entertainment crown that it had since launch.

MAFS aired to 704,000 metro viewers and topped all three key advertising demos on Thursday. It was followed by The Chase Australia on Seven, which pulled in 479,000 metro viewers.

Home and Away on Seven was next in line with 457,000 metro viewers, topping Ten’s  new offering Taskmaster. The latter will be aired again next Thursday.

Chief sales officer of Paramount ANZ, Rod Prosser, said of the launch: “Taskmaster has attracted a lot of positive attention from industry with Mitsubishi leaning into the laughs with an exclusive sponsorship of our new show.

“And it’s an excellent start for Taskmaster achieving strong results our target demographics that we know will just keep building momentum and attract even more fans each week to watch this hilarious show.”

Seven’s Big Bash League challenger drew in 352,000 metro viewers, followed by Hot Seat on Nine with 348,000 metro audience.

The #1 news program on Thursday was Seven News with 860,000 metro viewers, followed by Seven News at 6:30 with 822,000, Nine News with 699,000 and Nine News at 6:30 with 695,000.

Nine network won the overall share with 31.4%, followed by Seven with 27.8%, Ten with 16.4% and ABC with 15.8%.

The top-rated primary channel on Thursday was Nine with a 23.7% share. However, the top-rated multichannel was 7Two with a 3.5% share.

In the latest Daily Consolidated 7 Total TV Report for 26 January, Seven News was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 1.3 million viewers, including 29,000 on BVOD and an uplift of 3%.

The program with the biggest uplift was an episode of Home and Away on Seven with an uplift of 33% and a total of 873,000 viewers overall, and BVOD audience of 168,000 nationally.
