The Amazing Race to premiere on 1 February

The domestic season of The Amazing Race will premiere on Monday 1 February, Network Ten has confirmed.

Filming has already completed on the season, which was originally meant to air in the second half of 2020. Hosted by Beau Ryan, it is set across Australia as going ahead with the race in its usual international format was impossible due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

A new teaser video features contestants emphasising the benefits of exploring their “own backyard”.

Ten also had to move the production of this season of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! from South Africa to northern New South Wales. Its season kicked off on Sunday, and opened the year strongly for Ten, premiering to 1.031 million metro viewers before dipping to 820,000 on Monday night and 752,000 last night.

The Amazing Race will air off the back of I’m a Celebrity, which is expected to wrap-up on Sunday 31 January, although Ten is yet to confirm the latter’s finale date.

The format, now fronted by Ryan, ran for three years on Seven in 2011, 2012 and 2014, and was revived by Ten in 2019. It opened to 635,000 metro viewers last season, with the final moments of the season watched by 739,000 metro viewers.
