The Biggest Loser pulls 726,000 ahead of finale but can’t beat ABC’s new Back Roads show

Screen Shot 2015-12-08 at 10.12.07 amTen’s reality weight loss program The Biggest Loser drew a metropolitan audience of 726,000, on what was a relatively quiet Monday night’s television viewing and ahead of tonight’s series finale.

The ABC’s new Back Roads program at 8pm, hosted by Heather Ewart and which travels to regional communities, was the most watched non-news program of the night with 872,000 viewers, followed by 788,000 for Home and Away on Seven which had 788,000 for one hour of the soapie.

The Biggest Loser won all the demographics and helped Ten to a 12.7 per cent main channel share overall. 

Nine’s 6.30pm bulletin was the most watched show of the night with 1.57m viewers compared with 1.015m for Seven. In the 6pm slot it was a closer race last night with Seven winning with 1.044m to 1.18m.

In the 8pm timeslot a repeat of The Big Bang on Seven drew 551,000 compared to a repeat of The Embassy on Nine which had 555,000 viewers.

At 8.30pm a Foreign Correspondent episode on the Black Lives Matter movement in the US drew 511,000 viewers, narrowly beaten by a second repeat of The Big Bang which had 556,000 viewers. This was compared with Nine which screened movie The Fugitive drawing 373,000 and CSI Cyber which had 362,000 on Ten.

Seven’s screening of comedy movie Meet The Fockers at 9pm drew 380,000.

An ABC2 special on pornography called Australians on Porn drew 193,000 at 9.30pm and helped boost ABC2 to a 4.6 per cent share.

Overall Seven won the night with a 18.9 per cent share on its main channel, Nine had 17.7 per cent, the ABC tied with Ten on 12.7 per cent and SBS had 5.5 per cent.
