The Block beats X Factor’s first live show while A Place to Call Home returns on Foxtel

Seven’s first live show of the series for The X Factor was outrated by Nine’s the Block last night as audiences dropped away for free-to-air TV.

X FactorThe Block’s 90-minute run from 7pm managed an average metro audience of 1.052m, while the two-and-a-half hour X Factor show which also started at 7pm grabbed 1.011m. Ten’s The Biggest Loser Families from 7.30pm to 8.30pm shed 97,000 viewers week on week with an audience of 446,000, down from 543,000 last week.

On pay-TV the much-vaunted return of Australia drama A Place to Call Home on SoHo, TV Hits and Fox Classics at 8.30pm managed 154,000 national viewers. 

Over on the ABC Dr Who at 7.40pm drew 541,000 viewers for the second episode of the new series while in the 8.30pm slot Vera drew 596,000 viewers.
