The Block hands Nine a Wednesday night win

Nine’s success is continuing this week with The Block handing a Wednesday night win to the network.

886,000 metro viewers tuned in to the program, making it the most-watched entertainment offering of the evening and putting it on top of two of the three key advertising demographics.

The Block was the most-watched by the 18-39s and the 25-54s, while Ten’s The Bachelor, which brought in 735,000, was the most-watched by 16-39-year-olds.

In the primetime head-to-head, Seven’s Highway Patrol brought in 439,000 metro viewers, while ABC’s 7.30 delivered 567,000. Hard Quiz brought in 590,000 and Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell 611,000.

But Seven held onto its crown in the news battle, with 1.037m viewers over Nine News’ 912,000. ABC News brought in 621,000.

The success of The Block also helped Nine to hold the top spot overall in metro audiences 25-54, with a 22.6% share, as well as metro audiences 16-39 with 21.2%.

Nine’s overall audience share 20.4% over Seven’s 18.9%, Ten’s 14.3% and ABC’s 11.8%.

In the network shares, Nine held 28.0%, Seven 26.2%, Ten 21.5% and ABC 16.6%.

The most-watched secondary channel was Ten Bold on 4.9%.
