The Block helps Nine narrowly win the week, edging ahead of Seven by 0.1%.

Nine has furthered its lead over Seven for the 2019 total people TV ratings win by adding another week to its tally, sneaking ahead of the rival network by 0.1%.

The year-to-date tally now has Nine on 29.6%, Seven on 29.2% and Ten on 17.2%.

Nine’s The Block drew to a close this week, helping the network win the week

Nine ended the week with a network share of 28.7%, while Seven held 28.6% and Ten 18.0%. Nine was the most-watched channel for the week too, holding 18.8% ahead of Seven’s 18.2% and Ten’s 11.9%. 7mate was the most popular multi-channel with 4.0%.

The announcement of The Block’s winner on Sunday single-handedly created the win, after Nine took a 42.4% audience share for the night. Nine’s only other win for the week was on Saturday night, with Seven taking every other evening. 1.924m metro viewers tuned in for the final moments of The Block, while 1.541 watched the episode leading up to the announcement.

Seven News was the most-watched program on Saturday night with 726,000 metro viewers and 1.1m nationally. Nine News held 610,00 and 834,000 and ABC News 579,000 and 858,000.

The Good Karma Hospital was the most-watched non-news programming, bringing in 417,000 metro viewers for ABC, followed by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 on Seven with 342,000.

Overall for the week, The Block was the most-watched program and the second-highest rating non-sports program of the year. Nine was the most-watched network with the key advertising demographics of 25-54 and 16-39, as well as being the most-watched channel in both.

Behind The Block, Seven News took the next three top spots for the week, followed by the finale of Ten’s The Bachelorette.
