The Block on top as House Rules off for AFL

The Block held onto its audience last night with 1.162m viewers across the five city metro representing a small drop in audience numbers on last Thursday’s 1.369m.

Seven’s competing home renovation show House Rules, which beat The Block on Thursday last week with an audience of 1.54m, was only shown in Sydney and Brisbane last night as live AFL coverage was broadcast during primetime in Melbourne and Adelaide.

Nine News was the top program of the night with 1.385m viewers, and Nine’s A Current Affair had 1.068m.

Ten’s MasterChef Masterclass, the instructional cooking show that generally has a smaller audience than its competition episodes, rated just 483,000, making it for 17th for the night. However, it was eighth in Ten’s target category of 25-54’s.

Nine won the night with 22.6 per cent of the audience share but Seven was close behind with 20.7 per cent.

In the morning battle Seven’s Sunrise lost out to Channel Nine’s Today with 369,000 viewers compared with 390,000 on Nine. Seven’s Early Sunrise had 196,000 over Early Today’s 190,000.
