The Block reinforces lead; hands Nine Wednesday win

The Block has topped entertainment programming for Wednesday night, handing Nine the win for overall share for the evening.

The episode edge close to its launch audience figures of 867,000 metro viewers, bringing in 796,000 metro viewers for the network and topped all three key advertising demos.

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 31 August, The Block was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 1.409 million viewers, including 247,000 on BVOD, and uplift of 32%. The biggest uplift of the week was an episode of The Amazing Race Australia which scored an uplift of 51%.

Next in entertainment for Wednesday’s overnights was Seven’s The Chase Australia on 517,000 metro viewers and Home and Away, also on Seven, with 488,000 metro viewers.

Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell on ABC brought in 460,000 metro viewers, while ABC’s Hard Quiz had 419,000 metro viewers.

The Hot Seat on Nine was viewed by 322,000 and After The Verdict, on Nine, score 300,000 metro viewers.

Meanwhile, Seven News at 6:30 was the top program overall for Wednesday evening with 922,000 metro viewers, followed by Seven News on 917,000 metro viewers. Following The Block was Nine News at 6:30, which brought in 778,000 metro viewers, then Nine News with 751,000.

Nine’s A Current Affair had 653,000 metro viewers, while ABC New had 570,000 and ABC’s 7:30 brought in 438,000 metro viewers for the public broadcaster.

As mentioned, Nine won overall network share for the evening, with 32.5% over Seven’s 25.3%, while ABC had a share of 17.7%, and Ten took a 15.0% share.

Nine also won the primary channel share, and the top-rating multi-channel on Wednesday was 10Peach with a share of 3.3%.
