Hammer time: The Block premiere beats My Kitchen Rules and The Masked Singer’s launch figures

The Block launch on Nine topped entertainment on Sunday, however, it was the Seven network that celebrated the overall nightly network share win and won the ratings week.

The program aired to 867,000 metro viewers, also winning all three key advertising demos. Last year, Nine aired the 2021 launch of The Block, with the show’s 17th series taking place in affluent Melbourne suburb Hampton. It brought in 747,000 metro viewers.

The show also had a 27% year-on-year increase in the regional figure perhaps because the series has gone regional this year.

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 31 July, Seven News was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 1.590 million viewers, including 31,000 on BVOD, and uplift of 2%. The biggest uplift of the week was an episode of Beauty and the Geek on Nine with an uplift of 30% and aired to a total audience of 707,000.

Meanwhile, Seven beat Nine in the week ending 6 August with a network share of 38.5% over Nine’s 24.1%, ABC finished the week with a 14.7% share, and Ten finished the week on 10.6%.

Seven also won the primary channel share for the week, with a 28.2% share ahead of Nine’s 17.1%, and the top multi-channel for the week was 7Mate on 5.5%.

Looking back at Sunday’s ratings, next in entertainment was the last 15 minutes of The Masked Singer’s launch reveal on Ten, which aired to an average metro audience of 598,000, followed by the program’s full launch episode, which aired to an average of 522,000.

The premiere of My Kitchen Rules on Seven launched to 503,000 metro viewers, followed by Spicks and Specks on ABC, which brought in 449,000 metro viewers.

In sports, Sunday’s AFL game aired to a metro audience of 459,000.

Meanwhile, Seven News was the #1 metro program on Sunday with 982,000 metro viewers followed by Nine News on Sunday with 807,000 metro viewers. ABC News brought in 572,000, and Nine’s 60 Minutes pulled in 445,000 viewers.

As mentioned, Seven won the night, taking an overall network share of 38.6% over Nine’s 27.2%, while Ten took a 15% share and the ABC had 12.9%.

Seven also won the primary channel share, and the top-rating multi-channel on Sunday was 7Mate with a share of 7.3%.
