The Block’s nail-biting finale week, winning entertainment as Nine tops overall share

In the leadup to the grand finale on Sunday, The Block on Nine continues to hold its audience, topping entertainment programming for Monday evening with 903,000 metro viewers, bringing home another overall win for Nine.

The episode, which also topped all three key advertising demos, came in comfortably ahead of The Chase Australia on Seven, which came in second for entertainment programming with 514,000 metro viewers.

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for Monday 24 October, The Block was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 1.565 million viewers, including 228,000 on BVOD, and an uplift of 26%. The biggest uplift of the week was Seven’s 9-1-1, which saw an uplift of 50%, for a total TV audience of 551,000.

Next in entertainment was Seven’s Home and Away, which brought in 445,000 metro viewers, followed by Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention, with 431,000 metro viewers. Australia’s Got Talent on Seven closely followed with 410,000, while ABC’s Australian Story brought in 407,000 metro viewers, ahead of Media Watch on ABC, with 378,000.

ABC’s Four Corners saw 338,000 metro viewers tune in, while Nine’s Hot Seat brought in 323,000 metro viewers.

In sports entertainment, Nine’s coverage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which aired live on 9Gem, brought in 323,000 metro viewers.

Meanwhile, Seven News won overall programming for Monday evening, bringing in 941,000 metro viewers, while Seven News at 6:30 saw 916,000 tune in. Nine News at 6:30 brought in 712,000, followed by Nine News with 709,000 and Nine’s A Current Affair had 589,000 metro viewers.

ABC News brought in 578,000, while 7:30 on ABC was tuned into by 454,000 metro viewers.

Meanwhile, Seven News won overall programming for Monday night, bringing in 941,000 metro viewers, followed by Seven News at 6:30 with 916,000 metro viewers. Nine News at 6:30 had 712,000 metro viewers, with Nine News on 709,000 metro viewers, while Nine’s A Current Affair had 589,000 and ABC News had 578,000 metro viewers.

As mentioned, Nine won the overall network share for the evening with 37.3% over Seven’s 25.7%, while ABC took 15.3% and Ten had a share of 14.9%.

Nine also won the primary channel share, and the top-rating multi-channel on Tuesday was 9Gem with a share of 9.6%.
