The Block’s Room Reveal wins across demos but out-rated by My Kitchen Rules

The BlockRoom reveals on Nine’s reality series The Block: Triple Threat helped close the gap on Seven’s reality series My Kitchen Rules last night and gave Nine an audience share win over Seven.

While MKR was the most-watched non-news show of the evening with 1.36m viewers at 7.30pm, The Block pulled in 1.284m for its room reveal – the most watched show across all the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54) –  with the rest of the show watched by 1.183m.

That gave Nine an audience share of 24.3 per cent, ahead of Seven’s 23.7 per cent, whilst Channel Ten slipped behind ABC with 10.5 per cent share against 11.9 per cent.

Seven News topped the night drawing a larger audience than My Kitchen Rules with 1.457m viewers at 6pm, while Nine News could only manage 1.283m in the same timeslot. Nine’s 60 Minutes won the 8.30pm timeslot with a metro audience of 1.188m against Seven’s Sunday Night which was watched by 674,000 metro viewers.

In the same slot Ten’s NCIS: New Orleans had an audience of 403,000 while the ABC’s Poldark, airing from 8.40pm, was watched by 595,000.

Ten’s Shark Tank, on at 7.30pm, saw its audience increase to 548,000 up from last week’s audience of 527,000, however It was out-rated by the ABC’s Australia’s Great War Horse which pulled in 630,000 metro viewers at 7.40pm.

Nine’s US series Stalker, which has already been cancelled in the Statesm,  saw its audience drop from 577,000 to 482,000 in the 9.30pm timeslot . It out-rated Seven’s Castle which saw its audience drop from 471,000 to 376,000.

In sport, Newcastle Knights taking on Parramatta Eels in Sunday’s afternoon NRL game was watched by 484,000 in Brisbane and Sydney on Nine. Seven’s AFL game between Geelong and the Gold Coast was watched by 533,000 metro viewers across Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

When the secondary channels are accounted for Seven won the night with a total audience share of 31.2 per cent, ahead of Nine’s total share of 31 per cent. The ABC and Ten tied with a total share of 16.1 per cent.
