The Front Bar Grand Final Edition brings 526,000 metro viewers to Seven

Seven’s AFL panel show The Front Bar saw 526,000 metro viewers tune in to its Grand Final Edition last night, before the AFL Grand Final between the GWS Giants and the Richmond Tigers this weekend.

The show, hosted by Andy Maher, Mick Molloy and Sam Pang, launched in 2015 as an online-only program on the AFL website, before being picked up by Seven in 2016. Its Grand Final episode was filmed in iconic Melbourne pub The Espy and is part of a lineup of AFL content Seven is running before the game on Saturday.

The show’s primary source of viewers last night was Melbourne where 324,000 metro viewers tuned in. The Front Bar helped push Seven to a total people audience share win with 22.0% as a channel and 32.9% as a network.

Seven also had the most-watched show of the night with Seven News (896,000 metro viewers) and it had the most-watched entertainment program with Home and Away (561,000 metro viewers).

558,000 metro viewers watched Gogglebox on Ten and the reality format topped all three of the key advertising demographics – 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54. Seven News took the second spot in all three.

Ten’s next most-watched was The Project at 7pm with 394,000 metro viewers, followed by the premiere of Jamie’s Ultimate Veg with 334,000.

737,000 tuned in for Nine News, making it the most-watched for the network, followed by A Current Affair with 590,000. RBT, which ran at 7:30pm, brought in 497,000.

Overall, Nine was the second most-watched channel in total audience share (16.3%), followed by ABC (12.4%) and Ten (11.9%). Things were similar at a network level – Nine took second spot with 24.4%, but Ten nudged ahead of ABC with 18.2% and 17.9% respectively. 7Two was the most-watched multi-channel with 4.2%.
