Award-winning creative agency The General Store has welcomed on board former retail journalist and editor Jo-Anne Hui-Miller as content and insights director.

In the newly created role, Hui-Miller is responsible for driving the thought leadership and content strategy for the agency and its clients in the future.

“At The General Store, we’re really passionate about bringing together the industry’s best and brightest minds across different sectors to create a more holistic proposition for our clients,” said partner and CEO, Matt Newell.

“After six years of working at Inside Retail, Jo is already a well-loved and respected member of the retail community and highly knowledgeable about the latest and upcoming trends within the sector.”

Hui-Miller has more than 15 years of journalism under her belt and was previously managing editor of premium content at industry publication Inside Retail Asia-Pacific, where she led a team of journalists producing in-depth analyses, trend reports and news stories across online and print. Prior to working at Inside Retail, Hui-Miller reported on the business sector for titles including the Sydney Morning Herald, Telstra’s Smarter Business Ideas and edited a range of B2B publications.

“I have always been fascinated by the way businesses work and I personally have a lifelong love of retail, so after years of reporting on the industry and interviewing the country’s best CEOs, now is the time for me to get under the hood and work alongside some awesome brands,” said Hui-Miller.

“I’ve known the guys at The G Store for six years and I’ve always admired their work, so I’m super pumped to roll up my sleeves and work with them.”

According to partner and chief strategy officer Danny Lattouf, Hui-Miller will play a pivotal role in driving the future growth of the business and its clients.

“We’re constantly evolving around our clients’ needs. Smart retailers are investing in insight-led content to help create engagement and community with their customers. With Jo, we’re in a strong position to further integrate that into our offering,” he said.

The General Store is a multi-disciplinary creative agency and works with major brands including Barbeques Galore, BCF, Breville, Jaycar, Freedom Furniture, Rebel Sport and Salvo’s Stores. Earlier this year, the agency celebrated its 10 year anniversary and won the Best Supplier category at the Retailer Awards and Branding & Design Agency of the Year at the AdNews Awards.
