The Loop to promote Spaces for rent

Career networking site The Loop has launched a new offering allowing businesses to advertise creative space they have available to rent. The launch of Spaces comes as The Loop carried out a second round of fundraising to bring in $2m to bhelp fund a UK launch.

The announcement:

On the eve of their second birthday, tech start-up The Loop secures $2 Million seed investment, recruits high-powered team, rolls out an exciting new product called Spaces, and announces a UK launch for 2012.

Launched in December 2009, career networking site The Loop currently showcases the work of over 20,000 of Australia’s top creative professionals. This innovative visual marketplace connects talent with 2,500 creative companies and endless opportunities.

Leading companies recruiting via The Loop include; Google, Sydney Opera House, XYZnetworks, Animal Logic, Nickelodeon, Frost*, Fuel VFX, ACP Magazines, Pacific Magazines, ABC, The Walt Disney Company, Network TEN, Foxtel, Droga5, SBS, Twentieth Century Fox, The Nine Network, MTV, Wunderman, Moon Communications, The Biennale of Sydney, the campaign palace, Oxfam, Ogilvy, Leo Burnett, Triple J and more.

The Loop’s activity has garnered significant interest from the local digital industry. After taking out the ‘Best Newcomer’ at the 2010 Job Board Awards, The Loop was announced as the winner of the ‘Best Enterprise’ category at the 2011 AAMIA Awards.

Spaces
In further connecting creative people, companies and opportunities, The Loop today announces the launch a brand-new addition to the site in Spaces.

Spaces showcases creative working environments around Australia available for occupancy. The idea is that creatives can either find or fill spaces — be it a single hotdesk or a complete warehouse — with like-minded people.

“We’re really happy with this new product, and having recently experienced the difficulty in trying to find a fitting space with like-minded people, we are confident it will make life easier for anyone looking to either fill or find a creative space from which to work.” Pip Jamieson, co-founder

Investment & expansion
The Loop’s founders, Pip Jamieson and Matt Fayle, were also recently successful in securing $2 Million second-round seed funding, with all first-round investors re-investing in the company. Plans are underway to launch in the UK in 2012.

New staff at The Loop
After steering the marketing department as Brand Manager of General Pants Co. for the past five years, Jethro Lyons joins The Loop as Head of Marketing.

Shaun Broughton has been hired as the Head of Sales and Business Development after a seven-year stint at Microsoft where he most recently was the National Sales Manager in the Retail, Sales and Marketing Division.

And Michael Ruhfus, well versed in the world of tech start-ups as one of the founding team members at Freelancer.com, recently joined The Loop as the lead for Operations and Project Management.

They join founders Pip Jamieson and Matt Fayle as well as Marie Jean-Claude, The Loop’s first hire and current Project Coordinator, and Asanka Dewage, Head Developer.

“Given we’ve been working out of our respective living rooms for the past 18-months, communicating over Skype, it’s been one of the prouder moments for Pip and I to have such industry leaders joining The Loop in a real office,” says co-founder Matt Fayle.
