The Meg knocks Mission: Impossible off top weekend box office spot

Warner Bros’ latest thriller, The Meg, has knocked Mission: Impossible – Fallout off the top weekend box office spot after two weeks at number one.

The Meg, starring Australian model and actress Ruby Rose, earned $3.4m across 413 screens, beating Mission: Impossible – Fallout’s $1.85m.

Universal’s new drama BlacKkKlansman also had its first weekend in the box office and managed to bring in $1.042m across 255 screens.

Meanwhile, Mamma Mia!: Here we go Again fell two spots to number four for its fifth week in the cinemas, taking $1.005m.

Roadshow’s The Spy Who Dumped me also slipped two places to fifth, as it managed to earn $724,132.

Another debut was Fox’s The Darkest Minds featuring Mandy Moore. The thriller brought in $575,708 over 227 screens.
