The Monkeys’ Mark Green becomes lead for Accenture Interactive AUNZ

Mark Green, group CEO and co-founder of The Monkeys, has taken on a new role as lead for Accenture Interactive Australia and New Zealand. Green’s appointment is effective immediately, and he will fulfil the role whilst maintaining his position at the creative agency.

The Monkeys co-founders, Justin Drape and Scott Nowell, have also been appointed to the newly created roles of co-chief creative officers for Accenture Interactive, Australia New Zealand. The pair will also be continuing their roles at The Monkeys.

Green’s new remit will involve driving Accenture Interactive’s business in the local market and working with Australian and New Zealand clients in transforming their customer experience.

Green, Drape and Nowell founded the creative agency Three Drunk Monkeys in 2006, rebranding to the current name, The Monkeys, in 2011.

In 2017, Accenture bought the agency for $63 million.

Green said his new role marked a new adventure for him and the relationship between The Monkeys and Accenture.

“This is a new adventure for me personally and represents the next chapter in expanding a part of the Accenture business which harnesses creativity to help organisations close the gap between brand promise and customer experience. Since the acquisition of The Monkeys by Accenture two years ago, we have demonstrated the power of combining consulting, creativity and technology under one roof; this not only provides unbelievable advantage for clients, but also opens up a world of new career opportunities for employees,” he said.

Bob Easton, chairman of Accenture ANZ, said the appointment represents increasing demand for the consultancy’s creative services.

“Mark takes up the helm at Accenture Interactive at a very exciting time, as demand for services in this part of our business continues to grow at pace and at scale, reflecting the demand by our clients for offerings in brand strategy, design, marketing, content and commerce,” Easton said.

Green’s appointment follows the departure of Accenture Interactive managing director, Michael Buckley, in May.
