The Mumbrella CommsCon Awards 2024 shortlist has been announced

The 2024 Mumbrella CommsCon Awards shortlist has been announced, with an impressive lineup of agencies, campaigns and talent nominated.

Fresh off last year’s nominations, and subsequent win for ‘PR Agency of the Year’, Ogilvy PR is returning with six nominations, while Herd MSL has received five nominations across various categories, including for PR Agency of the Year – Large and several campaigns.

The 2024 awards are also highlighting the industry’s efforts at optimising budgets to create mind-blowing campaigns.

The Best Campaign with a Small Budget category is packed with six nominated bodies, including: The Great Aussie Debate by News Corp Australia with news.com.au; It’s Time to Play Better from Hopeful Monsters for PARK SSC; G Flip Drums the Blue Mountains by Destination NSW with Future Classic for Scenic World; Fitchiz from BCW Australia with VML for Honest Eggs Co.; Australia’s First Dating Dictionary by Tinder Australia and Daily Digital; and Allen’s x B105 Brown Snakes Alive (Inspired by the Brisbane River) – Nestle Oceania with Brisbane 105 FM for Allen’s.

Meanwhile, the awards’ latest category – Best New-Comer of the Year – is spotlighting the newest players in the public relations and communications industry. The nominees include: Jake Challenor’s Sound Story, ChangePR – The Shannon Company, Berkeley Communications (which has only been in the Australian space since May last year), and snack PR.

But as always, the CommsCon Awards are not only celebrating agencies and their work, the ceremony will also highlight industry veterans and talent new to the industry.

The nominees for PR Leader of the Year have made waves in the sector over the last year, with the diverse group consisting of Angela Scrymgour – Australian Broadcasting Corporation, EJ Granleese – History Will Be Kind, Elly Hewitt – alt/shift, Hannah Moreno – Third Hemisphere and speaker at the CommsCon conference, Phoebe Netto – Pure Public Relations, and Shane Allison – Communication and Public Relations Australia, Phronesis, Public Address.

As for Best New PR Talent of the Year, delegates ought to keep an eye out for the following nominees: Adelaide Haynes – Akin Agency, Izzy Gardener – Domino’s Pizza Enterprises, Lisa Vu – Microsoft ANZ, Tarnay Sass – Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and Sarah Cefai – History Will Be Kind.

The Mumbrella CommsCon Awards will be held on 27 March, 2024 at Sydney’s Four Seasons Hotel, with the ceremony officially kicking off at 7:00pm.
