The NRL and AFL bond in new Carsales campaign

The rivalry between the NRL and AFL is officially over, as two teams have united in a humorous new Carsales campaign, via Two Tractors.

Players from the NRL’s Melbourne Storm and AFL’s Sydney Swans are the stars of the new campaign, with a typical post-match interview featuring a twist. As the “interviews” unfold, the players share classic footy clichés and playfully take jabs at one another, before revealing the ” real game-changer” – the new pay-through-Carsales offering.

The spot features the Swans’ Isaac Heeney, Errol Gulden, and Nick Blakey alongside Storm’s Bronson Garlick, Tyran Wishart, and Jack Howarth.

Pay through Carsales hopes to simplify online vehicle transactions, with features including ID verification, secure customer-controlled funds, and faster payments. Since its launch four months ago, over $30 million in payments has already been processed, according to Carsales.

As a sponsor of both teams, Carsales’ managing director, Paul Barlow, said the marketplace wanted to take a collaborative approach to highlighting its platform through the new work.

“We’re thrilled to bring the stars of both AFL and NRL together in the same campaign – something we haven’t seen done before across our industry,” he said.

“This is a fun and engaging way to highlight how buying and selling a car is quicker, easier, and more secure through carsales. Pay through carsales changes the game by minimising the friction of online transactions.

“We’ve seen strong adoption of this solution, and we’re thrilled to have the Swans and Storm bring this message to life in such an entertaining way.”

The campaign will be live in-stadium, as well as on social and digital channels, as both sporting codes kick off round one of their 2025 seasons this weekend.
