Special New Zealand’s group strategy director heads over to TBWA Sydney
TBWA Sydney has named Special New Zealand’s group strategy director as its head of strategy.
In an announcement on Thursday morning, the creative agency unveiled Josh Taylor Dadds as its new strategy leader. He’ll report to recently-announced chief strategist Michael Hogg.
The appointment sees Dadds return to the TBWA ecosystem after a break, having previously served as TBWA New Zealand’s strategy director from March 2021 to July 2022.
While there, his work covered numerous New Zealand-based brands, such as Southern Cross Health Insurance and telecommunications company 2degrees.
“Josh is a big talent, and a champion for disruptive, innovative strategic thinking. We are really excited to have him back at TBWA,” TBWA ANZ’s president and chief executive officer, Paul Bradbury, said of Dadds’ return.

Most recently, the strategy expert worked at Special NZ, beginning his time at the agency as its strategy director before jumping into the group strategy director position at March 2023.
Prior to spending the past five years in New Zealand, Dadds headed up numerous marketing and strategy roles in London for VMLY&R London, News UK, STA Travel and more.
Dadds commented on his new position, expressing excitement at the latest stage of his career.
“I love TBWA (…never been one to play it cool). Disruption is an inspiring philosophy – it unleashes outrageous creativity while ensuring work is ruthlessly effective for clients. I saw that firsthand with the crew at TBWA\New Zealand, and I’m so excited to be back in the fold,” said Dadds.
“I was lucky enough to meet a few people at the agency before joining, and everyone has been an absolute legend.
“Getting to work with Paul, Elektra, Michael and the rest of the crew all while calling Sydney home (the second-best city in the world, after London) is a dream come true.”
