The Royals’ co-founder Nick Cummins announces departure

Co-founder and creative partner of The Royals, Nick Cummins, will transition out of the business from next month, leaving the agency after nine years.

Stu Turner and Seb Vizor – who were hired last year in an agency shake-up – will continue as executive creative directors in the Melbourne and Sydney offices, respectively. Vizor came in last April as deputy executive creative director, but was promoted to ECD this month.

Cummins has been with the agency for nine years

The Royals said Cummins’ future plans involve time with his family, with no future role locked in.

“Nick has been a key part of The Royals’ culture and passion for creativity since our inception in 2011,” said managing partner Andrew Siwka.

“We will always be indebted to ‘Mr. Cummins’ for everything he’s done in helping shape our business into what it is today.

“We’re confident that The Royals will continue to thrive under Stu and Seb’s creative leadership for many years to come.”

Before co-founding The Royals, Cummins was executive creative director at Tribal DDB for three years, and previously co-founded Sputnik Agency, one of the country’s first independent digital agencies.

“Watching us grow from a handful of people into two thriving offices in Melbourne and Sydney has been incredibly fulfilling,” Cummins said.

“I’m very proud of our team and the diverse range of work we’ve created along the way, but it is now time for me to start my next chapter.”

Earlier this week, the agency won the Coopers Brewery account, adding to a client list that includes Australian Super, Mercedes-Benz Commercial, Athena Home Loans, Coates Hire, James Hardie and Charles Darwin University.

At the start of the year, the agency’s head of strategy, Michaela Futcher, departed for TBWA Media Arts Lab in Singapore, with Tom Donald hired to replace her.
