The Salvation Army to air Christmas television special

Christian charitable organisation The Salvation Army have announced that a television special it created, Christmas With The Salvos, will premiere Saturday December 11 2020 at 1pm.

The announcement:

The Salvation Army are excited to announce the premiere of ‘Christmas With The Salvos’, a television special airing on Channel 7 this December.

The 30-minute Christmas special features Salvation Army ambassador Samantha Jade, AFL legend and S.T.A.N.D. ambassador Adam Goodes and Better Homes and Gardens chef Fast Ed, as they partnered with The Salvos to give back at Christmas.

‘Christmas With The Salvos’ features three families on the NSW South Coast who were devastated by the Black Summer Bushfires earlier this year. Since then, the families have battled through COVID-19 and even floods.

In the special, Leisa, Sara and Brett share of their own experiences living through the horrific bushfires, what the recovery phase has looked like, how The Salvos ongoing support has helped and how they are feeling about Christmas and 2021.

Samantha Jade, Adam Goodes and Fast Ed joined forces with The Salvos to give back and spread some hope in time for Christmas.

Aria Award winning singer Samantha Jade says, “As a proud ambassador of The Salvation Army, I was thrilled to be on the South Coast with The Salvos to give back at Christmas. It was lovely to connect and share with Leisa, Sara and Brett”.

Samantha adds, “As a Salvos ambassador, I know how much they do to bring hope to people, particularly at Christmas.”

During the 30-minute TV special, there will be tears, laughter, a few surprises which all culminates in a festive Christmas meal.

S.T.A.N.D (Support Through Australian Natural Disaster), is the natural disaster relief partnership between Woolworths and The Salvation Army. S.T.A.N.D ambassador Adam Goodes was keen to visit communities devastated by last summer’s bushfires and see how they were coping

“The Salvos with the support of Woolworths were there on the ground helping families through the bushfires. The trip was an opportunity to come back and hopefully put some smiles on people’s faces”, says Adam Goodes.

Better Homes and Gardens foodie favourite added, “No matter where you are in Australia, there’s a Salvos team when you need them. The Salvos team on the South Coast have done a great job.”

At Christmas, The Salvation Army will distribute more than 30,000 hampers and vouchers, give out more than 500,000 gifts and toys and support more than 50,000 families in need. The Salvos will also provide more than 130,000 meals, more than 65,000 beds for those who need a place to stay and provide more than 7,600 families with accommodation during the festive season.

‘Christmas With The Salvos’ premieres on December 12 at 1pm on Channel 7. It will have encore screenings across Channel 7 and 7Two on December 18 at 4pm, December 20 at 2pm and December 25 at 4:30pm. It will be available on 7Plus later in December.
