The Western Weekender recommences NRL liftout Extra Time

Penrith’s The Western Weekend is bringing back its NRL liftout, Extra Time, for the 29th season.

The announcement:

Extra Time, Penrith’s leading coverage of rugby league, returns in The Western Weekender

Penrith’s leading local newspaper, The Western Weekender, will commence its 29th season of unrivalled rugby league coverage when its NRL liftout, Extra Time, returns on March 13.

The Western Weekender is one of Australia’s leading independent newspapers, and continues to provide residents of one of Sydney’s fastest growing areas with news, sport, entertainment and more through its weekly print edition and digital offerings.

Extra Time has been the centrepiece of the Weekender during the NRL season for many years, and will return on March 13 with its dedicated coverage of the Penrith Panthers.

“We are so excited for the 2020 NRL season and the return of Extra Time – the much-loved rugby league liftout that becomes a bible of sorts to Penrith Panthers fans throughout the season,” said Western Weekender Managing Editor, Troy Dodds.

“Way back in 1991, the Panthers featured on the Weekender’s first ever cover. Nearly 30 years later, we continue our strong focus on rugby league.”

Extra Time features match previews, player interviews, statistics, posters and expert columns. The liftout is lead by Troy Dodds and Nathan Taylor.

Expert columnists this year include veteran rugby league writer Peter Lang, 2GB’s Clinton Maynard and a host of personalities from Fox League.

“Advertising packages for Extra Time – which incorporate corporate opportunities at Panthers Stadium – have almost sold out, a testament to the success and longevity of this liftout,” Mr Dodds said.

The Weekender’s 2020 rugby league coverage begins on Friday, March 6 with a special wraparound feature previewing the NRL season. The Extra Time liftout returns March 13.
