The winner of Domino’s gold and ruby pizza-shaped engagement ring is revealed

The winner of Domino’s competition to win an engagement ring adorned with an 18-carat yellow and white gold, diamond and ruby pizza has been revealed, with Jasmine Ireland proposing to her partner of two years, Jamie Bowes, last Friday night.

The announcement:

Two pizza lovers will no longer be ‘playing the field’ after an incredible win in the final minutes of an Adelaide soccer game on Friday night.

Domino’s last month announced it would gift an exclusive pizza-shaped engagement ring, valued at over $9,000, to one lucky couple to help create the marriage proposal of their dreams.

The winner, Jasmine Ireland, from Adelaide’s southern suburbs, had a unique ‘pitch’ to pop the question to her partner of two years, Jamie Bowes.

It involved one referee, two teams, 22 soccer players and their family and friends as spectators at a live soccer match.

With help from Domino’s, it was GAME ON at Hackham Sports Complex on Friday night, with the teams ‘parting like the Red Sea’ during Jamie’s weekly match to reveal Jasmine and the one-of-a-kind pizza slice engagement ring.

“I went to take the kick and I turned around and saw all the boys lining up,” Jamie said. “Ithought, ‘Oh, the game must be over’ but then I saw Jasmine on the field, and I thought, ‘Why is she here? What is she doing?’

“When she got down on one knee, I just couldn’t believe it. I was in shock! I’m still in shock. I had no idea she had been planning this with the rest of the team and my coach!”

With the game threatening to go into overtime, Jasmine decided she was not waiting on the sidelines anymore.

“He took too long (to propose) so I had to step up and get it done,” she laughed.

“I figured even if he lost the point, he’d be the guy who missed a goal, but still scored the girl.

“I was so nervous and excited. It was amazing to have all my family and friends around me, including my sister who made a special trip from Brisbane to Adelaide just to be here to watch me propose.”

The newly engaged couple were treated to a Garlic Bread Guard of Honour and enjoyed a special Domino’s feast with their loved one’s to celebrate.

The pair, who have a seven-month-old son, said pizza was one of the cornerstones of their relationship.

They enjoyed pizza on their first date and already have an unbreakable commitment to shout the winner of each week’s soccer game Domino’s for dinner.

To make it official with the pizza engagement ring was simply the (mozzarella) cheese on top!

“The ring is everything I thought it would be and more. I can’t stop staring at it… I can’t believe it’s mine!” Jasmine said.

Almost 300 video entries were received in Domino’s pizza proposal competition from across Australia and New Zealand.

“We were overwhelmed by the power of pizza to bring people closer,” Domino’s Chief Marketing Officer ANZ Allan Collins said.

“It just goes to show that sometimes all it takes is great conversation over some great food for sparks to fly.

“Jasmine and Jamie are true relationship goals and we were so excited to help give them a night, and hopefully a lifetime, of incredible memories together.”
