The X Factor success polishes Happy Endings debut
The debut of Seven’s US sitcom Happy Endings benefited from The X Factor’s strong finale in the ratings on Tuesday night.
The final X Factor episode, when the winner was announced, drew an audience of 1.998m for Seven, according to the preliminary ratings from OzTam.
It was close, but not quite the ratings high of Seven’s other shiny-floor show Australia’s Got Talent, which pulled 2.192m in its preliminary overnight ratings.
The X Factor’s high-rating set up the debut of American sitcom Happy Endings well, with just under 1m.
The show won its 9.30pm timeslot and rated 989,000, beating Ten’s highest-rating show, NCIS, which rated 725,000, as well as Nine’s Survivor: South Pacific, which took only 380,000.
Seven comfortably won the night 30.1% share. Nine was its closest rival with 16.4% share.

I didn’t watch X-Factor and stick around for Happy Endings. I actually tuned in for the sitcom (which I thought began at 9.30pm) and had to endure the last ten minutes of X-Factor while I waited. Well, that’s what the mute button is for, right? I loved happy Endings and will definitely be tuning in next week!

I thought Happy Endings was a bad Cougar Town. Which you’d think was impossible, right?
But apparently it gets better. Personally, I’d kill someone for the second season of Game of Thrones….
