These slave labourers sure do put on a good grand prix
There’s a nice bit of joined up publishing from Sydney’s Sunday Telegraph today.
The paper gives part of its centre spread to an opinion piece from union leader Paul Howes decrying Middle Eastern airlines being allowed to increase their flights into Australia.
Apparently it’s unfair competition to give access to the airlines of emirates like Abu Dhabi and Dubai because “they’re wholly owned by the royal families of their respective kingdoms” who subsides the fuel costs.
The clincher being that staff in the emirates are “paid slave wages with little or no workplace rights”.
One then turns to the centre spread of the newspaper’s Escape travel supplement, which contains Brian Crisp’s feature on visiting Abu Dhabi. Leaving aside the fact that the visit clearly took place during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix a mere three months ago, who shouldbeb the recopmmended airline? Abu Dhabi’s Etihad of course. And it probably comes as no surprise to read that “the author was a guest of Abu Dhabi Toruism”.
Dr Mumbo hopes Brian enjoyed the slave labour.
