So You Think You Can Dance final gets 495,000 for winner announcement

Ten’s final episode of So You Think You Can Dance got 495,000 metro viewers for the announcement of the winner and 443,000 for the final episode, preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam show.

The series final was less popular than the first outing of the show which launched to 466,000 on February 10 and has seen audiences decline even after it was moved to the less competitive Thursday night timeslot.

Meanwhile Nine had 1.071m for a repeat episode of The Big Bang Theory in the 7.30pm timeslot against the start of the shiny floor dance show, and the new episode of The Big Bang Theory that followed had 1.253m, making it the most popular program of the night.

Seven’s House Rules was second in its timeslot with 987,000 at 8pm, as Nine had 1.071m for a Big Bang Theory rerun on at 8pm.

Both episodes of The Big Bang Theory were the most popular among people 25-54, followed by House Rules, Home and Away and The Footy Show.

ABC1 was third in the 8pm timeslot with a rehash of previous episodes of The Checkout, and was second at 8.30pm after House Rules as Call the Midwife had 807,000 while The Footy Show had 709,000 viewers on Nine.

Meanwhile critically acclaimed new series Fargo had 255,000 for its double episode on SBS1 from 8.30pm to 10.45pm, while Ten had 467,000 for Law and Order SVU at 9pm and 381,000 for a second episode at 10pm.

The final episode of How I Met Your Mother, broadcast more than four weeks after it aired in the US and the controversial ending was widely reported, had 481,000 metro viewers on Seven at 9.45pm last night.

Seven had the edge over Nine in the national news hours with 1.174m from 6pm, while Nine had 1.13m, and 1.097m for its combination of news and Today Tonight from 6.30pm, as Nine News 6.30pm had 1.018m.

Nine claimed its only win so far this week edging Seven on audience share with 22.2 per cent compared to 21.8 per cent, while ABC1 had 14 per cent and Ten 11.4 per cent.
