Thinkerbell’s Georgie Cavanagh resigns to pursue ‘side hustle’

Thinkerbell’s first public relations recruit George Cavanagh has resigned from the agency to pursue her ‘side hustle’, a French linen bedding company known as Carlotta and Gee.

Cavanagh joined Thinkerbell from Jules Lund’s Tribe in 2018, and became the agency’s first Sydney employee.

She was charged with building out its public relations offering, and was then joined by Cath King, who came on board as head thinker of earned media.

Last year, the agency won the PR account for insurance giant IAG, the parent company for brands including NRMA and CGU.

On the creative side, the agency has clients including 13Cabs, Vegemite, Sukin and Sorbent. It launched a media offering spearheaded by former managing director of OMD Mardie Reid, and now services accounts such as Bega and Melbourne Racing Club.

Cavanagh has been running Carlotta and Gee on the side for 14 months alongside business partner Carlotta Casals who will remain working full-time at Groundswell Productions.

Cavanagh said it was time to turn her passion project into her full-time pursuit, particularly as the brand boasts clients including Matt Damon and the Hemsworth family, and will now be stocked at Assembly Label.

“It was a privilege to work with such a talented bunch of people at Thinkerbell. We were able to work on some exciting projects and push boundaries given it was still small enough to be nimble,” Cavanagh told Mumbrella. “Now it’s time to pursue a passion and let the entrepreneurial spirit take over . Carlotta and Gee has already experienced exciting growth since launching over 12 months ago, now it’s time to take it to the next level. There are so many opportunities within Australia to educate those about the benefits of sleeping in linen.”
