Ticketmaster reveals leadership team changes as Maria O’Connor is appointed chairman

Ticketmaster Australia and New Zealand has made multiple changes to its leadership and executive teams, significantly promoting Maria O’Connor to chairman of Australia and New Zealand.

O’Connor is one of several new hires and promotions, with Gavin Taylor joining the company as managing director for Australia.

O’Connor has been at Ticketmaster since 1983, and over the past three decades has helped shape the company as well as the ticketing industry at large.

She moves from her role as MD for Australia and New Zealand, and will continue to look for opportunities to grow Ticketmaster’s business in the region.

Global Ticketmaster president Mark Yovich said O’Connor will be a massive asset to the senior leadership team.

“Under the leadership of Maria O’Connor, Ticketmaster Australia and New Zealand has thrived and become the region’s leading ticketing company. O’Connor’s extensive knowledge and understanding of the ticketing and live event industries will continue to be an invaluable asset to our senior leadership team,” Yovich said.

Taylor, meanwhile, joins Ticketmaster from his current job as CEO of the West Australian Football Commission (WAFC), and GM at Perth Stadium Management.

He comes with 15 years of experience in live entertainment, events and ticketing, and Yovich hailed Taylor’s impressive track record.

“Gavin is a welcome addition to the Ticketmaster family – his impressive track record of success will undoubtedly have a great impact on our business,” the global president said.

“At such a crucial time for us, Gavin’s knowledge and experience will help guide our teams on the road back to live, while remaining focused on Ticketmaster’s growth and leadership within the industry.”

Taylor, who will finish his role at the WAFC on November 12, moves to Melbourne in January 2021 to start with Ticketmaster.

“I’m very excited to be joining Ticketmaster, a company I have worked closely with throughout my career and one I genuinely believe in – both the product and the people,” Taylor said.

“In this role, I’ll be focused on supporting the business and the wider live entertainment industry in Australia as we forge the path to reopening. Ticketmaster will play such an important part in reconnecting venues and artists with their loyal fans, and I look forward to playing a part in supporting and delivering these fan experiences.”

Ticketmaster has made several other promotions in senior executive positions.

Jim Kotsonis moves to new position of executive vice president for ANZ, Justin Pule is promoted to managing director for NZ, and Susie Kyrou is appointed to general manager of data and insights for ANZ.

Moshtix, owned by Ticketmaster since 2019, has promoted Anjelica Devoe to head of business development for NZ.
