Alyx Gorman: promoted to Time Out editorial director

Gorman joined Time Out Sydney in November last year after finishing up with Mamamia’s The Glow in January 2015.

She has previously worked at Bauer Media as features editor for Elle Australia and has also been the editor of Fairfax Media’s TheVine.com.au.

Gorman said: “Time Out Australia is a brand with substantial momentum. Over the past six months, we’ve rolled out Time Out‘s global website and app so that Australians will experience a seamless browsing experience whether they’re in Melbourne, London or New York.

“We’ve redesigned our print products and seen substantial growth in both the size of our audience and the diversity of our offering on social media. It’s a pleasure to be able to step into this new, national position, to help drive Time Out to reach our growing audience how and where they want to be spoken to, while maintaining our values of critical judgement, with a healthy dose of inspiration.”

Gorman’s first role will be launching Time Out’s new live panel discussion series Time Out Talks, focusing on the politics and philosophy of food.

Mike Rodrigues, CEO of Time Out Australia, said:  “Whether it’s through digital, social or print Time Out‘s aim is to inspire our readers to know their city and to get the most out of it. A live panel discussion series that explores city issues, is the next logical step in the close relationship we share with our audience.”

Joyce: new editor of Time Out Sydney

Replacing Gorman as editor of Time Out Sydney is Emma Joyce who has been the lifestyle editor of Time Out Sydney since January 2013.

Gorman said: “Emma knows the Time Out brand inside and out, and is the perfect choice for editor of Time Out Sydney. Her passion for and engagement with life in this city is matched by a drive to tell its stories, whether they be critical reviews, profiles or the daily pleasure of telling people the best things to go out and do that day. “
