Dr Mumbo

Timely DJ disasters

Dr Mumbo has noticed a worrying phenomenon.

Sydney radio presenters who are about to come back on air seem to have the most awful bad luck on their holidays. Even if it does then helpfully generate headlines reminding newspaper readers about how they are COMING BACK FROM THEIR HOLIDAYS.

Take Nova’s Ryan Fitzgerald (back on the mic from 6am Monday).

According to today’s Sunday Telegraph, his holiday in New York was interrupted when he discovered he’d been the victim of identity theft.

Luckily he was able to get to a telephone to tell the newspaper about it.

As the newspaper (prop: L Murdoch) reminds readers about the Nova (prop: L Murdoch) show: “Fitzy and Wippa will return to the airwaves tomorrow”

Then there’s Kiis FM’s Jackie O. The Sunday Tele dedicates most of page three to revealing that she was “detained by customs”. Which proves to have involved spending a few minutes straightening out a minor issue with her husband’s visa.

Luckily she was able to get to a telephone to tell the newspaper about it.

Had anyone heard that that the radio ratings period begins again this week?
