Timeslot move fails to help Ten’s falling Idol

Ten’s switch back to a 7.30pm timeslot for Australian Idol failed to revive the music show’s fading ratings on Sunday night.

Instead the move saw a fall on the previous week – from 990,000 metro viewers, according to OzTam, to 976,000.

And despite Ten turning on the razzamatazz for the tenth anniversary of the Rove show, the Rove Turns Ten special also fared poorly, rating an average of just 869,000.

But Ten wasn’t the only network to flop on Sunday. Nine’s one-off TV’s Best Of The Best retrospective on Aussie telly also crashed and burned, pulling in an average of 913,000 viewers.

Sunday’s share:

  • Seven: 25.1
  • Nine: 21.3
  • ABC1: 21.2
  • Ten: 20.6
  • SBS1 6.1
  • GO!: 3.2
