Today in New York beats Sunrise on Thursday

Nine’s investment in a week-long broadcast of the Today show in New York paid off on Thursday as the breakfast show beat rival Sunrise by 14,000.

Its five-city metro audience was 372,000, according to preliminary metro ratings from OzTam. It beat the Seven show thanks to easy wins in Sydney and Melbourne. Sunrise won in Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth.

Later in the day at 8:30pm, the second outing for controversial ABC drama The Slap maintained an audience above 900,000 but slipped back on its debut of 946,000 to 912,000.

Seven’s Beauty and the Geek was just shy of the 1 million mark, winning the 8:30 slot.
