Todd Sampson backed influencer agency Vamp launches in Singapore and Hong Kong

Australian social influencer marketing start-up Visual Amplifiers has expanded into Asia, setting-up a presence in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Also known as Vamp, the company founded by Aaron Brooks just over a year ago in Australia and New Zealand has launched in Singapore where it is led by former Agenda and Y&R executive Amy Luca, who is also the firm’s marketing director.

Vamp Hong Kong is being helmed locally by Simon Yick as managing director. Yick’s CV includes stints at Barclays Wealth Hong Kong and Credit Suisse.

Brooks told Mumbrella that Asia “was always our goal” with Indonesia and India also on the cards on the back of demand from clients in Australasia.

“As our business has evolved into a multi-channel content product offering it became apparent that there was a need in Asia for the type of high-quality content Vamp talent has successfully produced in ANZ. While there are other influencer marketing companies in the region, we feel that our full-service model creative product covering imagery, video and copy produced by our talent sets us apart,” he said.

Aaron Brooks: “Hong Kong is a doorstep to greater China for us”

The young company announced its intentions to take on Asia in February, and a month later the firm was bolstered with the news that Todd Sampson, Leo Burnett Australia’s non-executive chairman and a media personality in Australia, was to join Vamp’s board as a non-executive director.

Vamp had planned to go public in May this year, but that idea was shelved in favour of private capital raising. Vamp now plans to float in 2017.

On the Hong Kong launch, Brooks said: “This is a doorstep to greater China for us and is the result of our ANZ clients operating in the region and asking us to come over and set up.”

“So far we’ve had tremendous success. Amy [Luca] has several years of experience China in previous roles at Agenda and Y&R in Shanghai so we are well poised for this expansion,” he said.
