Tourism Australia calls $1-2m domestic PR pitch
Tourism Australia has issued a tender for its domestic public relations account, estimated to be worth $1m-$2m. Agencies have until 4pm on April 8 to submit their credentials.
The tender will cover New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory, Western Australia, Queensland and Australian Capital Territoy.
Competing agencies will be ruled out of the running if they are the lead agency for tourism bodies in the US, UK, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, France, Germany or Italy.
The winning agency will begin work from 1 July 2011.
Tourism Australia’s current PR agency panel includes the following list, which is due to expire – hence the review.
- Horizon Communications Group
- The Reputation Group
- Red Agency
- Gavin Anderson & Company
- Ogilvy Public Relations
- Haystac
- Sefiani Communications Group
- Avviso
- Pinque
- CPR Communications & Public Relations
- Royce Consulting
This seems to be across the board. Saw on PR Week US that the US and Latin American accounts are up for grabs. Understand Fleishman were behind much of the TA Oprah tour work, so you’d think they’d be strong contenders to win it back. Possibility of FH Australia getting on the pitch list?

Isn’t the Reputation Group now part of Ogilvy PR?

Greg; yes, TRG now part of Ogilvy PR (Ogilvy itself is part owned by STW from Aust and WPP from UK). TRG was folded into Ogilvy PR late last year; there was no figure released for a purchase price.
The Internetz: There were two Sydney based PR Agencies behind Oprah’s Tour in Australia – Momentum2 and Eck Faktor (it was a JV). MDs are Kim McKay and Karen Eck.
